Neal Schon 2005 Interview

schonpic.jpg

Another one from the archives - this time it's Neal Schon. I interviewd Neal in March of 2005 upon the release of his Soul Sirkus project. Neal also had his solo record "I On U" relased around the same time. He chats about both releases here, and gives some insight into his world famous guitar tone and his creative process. Neal did the Soul Sirkus record and tour, the solo record, and Journey pre-production all in that same year. Whew!

Jay Geils 2005 Interview

geils.jpg I had the chance to talk to Jay (you may know him as J.) Geils about his new jazz record "Jay Geils Plays Jazz" in 2005. Don't worry, you're not alone in not knowing that the guy who played the riff in "Love Stinks" had a jazzy side. He talks in depth about it here. Take a listen.

Robert Hazard 2005 Interview

roberthazard_denim.jpg Here's an interview I conducted with Robert Hazard from the fall of 2005, upon the release of his album "The Seventh Lake". Robert was a near legend around the Philadelphia area in the early 1980's together with his band The Heroes. Lately, he's been doing more of an introspective singer/songwriter thing. Take a listen to the interview, then check out Robert at www.roberthazard.com.

Steve Lukather 2006 Interviewluke22002.jpg

Here's an interview I did with the great Steve Lukather. This was on the heels of Toto's summer 2006 show in Jim Thorpe, PA - part of the U.S. leg of the "Falling in Between" tour. Luke talks in length about Toto, his session experiences, his views on today's musicians, and more. Quite a colorful guy, he's a down to earth "rock star" with a diverse musical past. Caution: sketchy audio quality!

Eric Bazilian 2004 Interview

Pictures 011.jpg You can't really find a more versatile musician than this guy - Eric Bazilian. From his own success in The Hooters, to writing a huge hit ("One of Us") for Joan Osbourne, to producing for artists like Amanda Marshall , Eric is a jack of all trades. In this 2004 interview, Eric was in the midst of working on a new Joan Osbourne disc, and he and The Hooters were about to receive a lifetime achievement award in their hometown of Philadelphia. The photo here of Eric and myself was taken backstage at Philly's Tin Angel in 2006 after one of Eric's solo shows.

Justin Moore 2004 Interview

The Tennessee based band was freshly signed to Hollywood Records at the time and had just released a great CD called "June's Picture Show". Here Justin Moore talks about the beginnings of the band, what it's like working for Disney, and also thoughts on touring with Hanson!

Raymond Herrera 2005 Interview

Raymondherrera.jpg Here's about 7 minutes of a chat with Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera. Raymond isn't talking about his band this time, he's talking about the music he's been creating for video games, notably the Mischief Invasion series. Video games have long been a passion of his, so naturally he's combined his love of music with gaming...what could be better.

Karl Logan 2004 Interview

Karl_Logan.jpg An interview in two segments here with Manowar guitarist Karl Logan from the archives. In 2004, I spoke with fellow Northeast Pennsylvania native Karl Logan about Manowar's then new DVD "Hell On Earth III". Karl talks here about his time in Manowar, and gives honest opinions of the band's place in the current music scene. Reason for two segments - there's a bit of content missing due to my tape being eaten before I could digitize all of the interview. Anyway, here's what I got...

Lonnie Brooks: Chicago Bluesman Still Going Strong

LonnieBrooksPicForSite1.jpgLonnie Brooks is the real deal when it comes to the blues. He's an original on the Chicago scene since his days as a sideman to Sam Cooke, playing and hanging out with everyone from Buddy Guy to Muddy Waters to Howlin' Wolf. As influential a bluesman as anyone, Lonnie's still touring. This conversation was in advance of his March 24th show in Jim Thorpe, PA. The photo of Lonnie and myself was taken backstage at that show For more on Lonnie, listen to the interview of course (he's a great storyteller - the one about Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown is pure gold), then visit him online at www.lonniebrooks.com.

Jaime St. James - The Guy Who Helped Warrant Be "Born Again"...

stjames.jpg

Here's a brand new interview with former Black 'N Blue frontman, current Warrant vocalist Jaime St. James. I got the chance to ask Jaime about what it's like stepping in for a well known vocalist in Warrant, how it's going with the current Warrant lineup, and even about the Black 'N Blue days. Jaime filled me in on upcoming projects for both bands (Black 'N Blue's got a rarities record on the table). On the heels of another round of springtime touring, Jaime was a cool guy to talk to - very personable and full of energy. He's proven he's the right guy for the job in Warrant. Check him out at www.jaimestjames.com, and Warrant at www.warrantweb.net.
